Listen. Act.
Transform.
Professional, effective, and caring psychological and substance abuse services offered to Kentucky adults and teens.
Taking the first step toward therapy requires immense courage. Deciding that you are ready for change—and actively looking for the right person to help you navigate it—is a profound act of bravery. I am honored that your search has brought you here.
I view therapy as a true collaboration. I am not here to dictate your path; instead, consider me a deeply trained, educated, and experienced partner in your change-making process. Together, we will look at where you are and where you want to be.
While the work we do is deeply meaningful, the environment we do it in doesn't have to feel clinical or rigid. I bring my authentic self to our sessions—which means you can expect a partner who is not only sharp and highly trained, but also personable, down-to-earth, and quick to share a warm, lighthearted moment when you need it most.
What to Expect
Coming to therapy for the first time can feel a bit daunting, so it helps to know what lies ahead. Our first session is a gentle assessment. Because I will have already reviewed your intake paperwork, we can focus our time on your current concerns and issues, allowing me to truly listen to your story and begin forming a roadmap. In our second session, we will dig a bit deeper.
I’ll ask a few more questions so we can thoroughly discuss your primary goals, and together, we will collaborate on a personalized therapy plan that feels right for you.
About Kip
For more than 35 years, I have been dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of the Northern Kentucky community. My career began at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in 1989 as an outpatient chemical dependency therapist and evolved into a decades-long tenure across inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction services.
During the final 20 years of my time with St. Elizabeth Healthcare, I served as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) therapist, specializing in occupational mental health and supporting local companies, their employees, and their families.
After retiring from St. Elizabeth in 2021, I established my private practice in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, where I continue to provide personalized, compassionate mental health and chemical dependency counseling. It remains a privilege to help individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with trusted care, practical support, and a commitment to lasting well-being.

Approaches
-
This approach explores how your earliest experiences with caregivers shape how you navigate relationships today. If you find yourself constantly worried about abandonment, or conversely, pushing people away when they get too close, attachment-based therapy can help. Together, we work to understand these deep-seated patterns, heal old emotional wounds, and build the confidence to form secure, trusting, and fulfilling connections with the important people in your life.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a practical, goal-oriented approach centered on the idea that how we think affects how we feel and act. When we get stuck in cycles of anxiety, depression, or stress, it is often fueled by automatic, unhelpful thought patterns. In CBT, we collaborate to identify these "mental traps," gently challenge them, and replace them with more balanced perspectives. It provides you with concrete, day-to-day tools to manage difficult emotions and make intentional, positive changes.
-
Recovery from substance use or compulsive behaviors is never a one-size-fits-all journey. Because your needs, history, and goals are entirely unique, my approach to recovery is fully tailored to you. Whether your goal is abstinence-based—focused on complete sobriety and structured support—or non-abstinence-based, focusing on harm reduction, moderation, and building healthier relationships with substances, we will work together without judgment. Your safety, personal goals, and well-being always direct our plan, ensuring you have the specific tools and support you need to thrive.

IFS is a compassionate, deeply transformative model that views the mind as a collection of different "parts"—almost like an internal family. You might have a part that perfectionistically drives you to achieve, a part that criticizes you to keep you safe, or a hurt part that carries old pain. Sometimes these parts conflict, leaving you feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Instead of fighting these different sides of yourself, IFS helps you access your core, compassionate Self to listen to, understand, and heal these parts, bringing your inner world back into balance.
